The Importance of a Great Attitude for Sales Success!

It is not lost on me how challenging this last 12 months have been - on so many levels!!! I wanted to remind you and reiterate how important your attitude impacts your sales. Clients and prospects can hear/feel your mood and positive commitment to their projects, deals or programs. A great attitude is the cornerstone for career success in sales. The attitude you share sets the tone for your interactions with prospects, clients, peers, and management day in and day out. If you have a great attitude, the individuals with whom you interact will want to continue to work with you, increasing your sales success at all levels. Here are a few examples that show how important a great attitude is in sales.

Reduced Stress Means Better Sales Numbers

It is important to recognize that the attitude an individual displays is a matter of personal choice. This means that it is up to you to choose to have a great attitude and not external circumstances. Once you recognize that it is within your power to influence sales in a positive direction by actively deciding to have a great attitude towards your work, your stress levels will begin to decrease because having a positive attitude changes your perception. Overall, this makes it easier to coordinate and prioritize your work and focus on the tremendously important sales tasks you need to accomplish, further decreasing the influence of stress.

Great Attitudes Attract Other Great Attitudes

The truism that opposites attract may be valid in some cases, but when it comes to attitude opposites certainly do not attract! Consider this: When you are in a positive mood because something great has happened in your day, would you rather be around people sharing that positive mood or people who are showing negativity? A great attitude in sales attracts others, which is incredibly important when it comes to influencing prospects and clients. When you have a great attitude and your prospects and clients are responding on the same wavelength, it becomes that much easier to achieve sales.

A Positive Viewpoint Allows You to Grow

Growth in sales is important to your career. A great attitude allows you to accomplish growth in sales and on a personal level by making it easier for you to embrace the learning opportunities you encounter along the way. If you look at these opportunities to do things differently and learn new approaches in a positive light, you will be better able to make positive, permanent changes that push your sales even higher. Additionally, growth in sales by learning through positive reactions to opportunities can help you advance to positions of greater responsibility – supported by your great attitude, which those with whom you work notice and appreciate.

A Great Attitude Makes It Easier to Perform Difficult Tasks

Solving client issues and overcoming objections can take a lot of energy, but that does not mean that these tasks must be negative. On the contrary, if you have a great attitude even when confronted with difficult issues, you can turn these issues into success stories by looking for the most positive outcome for everyone involved. With a great attitude, instead of shying away from issues you can empower yourself to become a true problem solver and strengthen your sales relationships in the process.

Positivity Allows You to Control Your Sales Outcomes

How would you like to be completely in control of your sales outcomes? You are, especially if you have a great attitude. Psychologists and social scientists have often noted the impact of the "self-fulfilling prophecy." If you have a great attitude towards your sales activities, believe that you can achieve your goals, and take steps to make sure that those goals happen, your sales will follow the trajectory that you have set.

There are many other ways that a great attitude can influence, support, and increase your sales. However, the simplest way to see what a difference a great attitude makes in sales may be simply to look at the top sales performers and sales executives you most admire. Emulate the great attitudes that these sales professionals exhibit and you can create the same results for yourself.
